Get HOA Approval Before Building Your Fence in Miami, Palm Beach or Broward County

All Fencing and Repair and Gate Installation Company had a customer in the Miami Dade County area that contracted us to build a chain link fence in his Miami property.  When he called he was unsure of what type of fence he wanted, so we sent one of our fence installers out to show him the different options he had. We discussed aluminum fence, PVC fence, chain linkwood fence, ornamental fence and combinations of these were discussed.

The customer decided on the galvanized chain link for the entire yard. We measured the yard for the fence, got the contract signed and the down payment required to secure the materials and set up the date for his fence installation. We scheduled to install the chain link fence two days later.

Next day the client called us to inform that his Homeowner Association would not allow installation of chain link fences in his property due to their regulations. Our client made an assumption. He looked at the neighbors who had chain link fence and thought he could install chain link fence too.  What he didn’t know is that those homeowners had been fined and they were in the process of searching for a new fence company to  remove their fences.

Luckily, we hadn't started the project, so nothing was cut to measure yet. Instead we installed a 4' wood picket fence, which the HOA says will be in compliance with their regulations.

Moral of the story: What your neighbors have done is not necessarily correct. Just because you neighbors did it, doesn't mean you can do it too. Also regulations change from time to time. It might be that at the time your neighbors installed the fence they were in compliance.

Before you call a fencing company in Miami, Palm Beach and Broward County to install your fence or gate, always get the approval of your HOA FIRST. Usually,  fence companies will help you in this process by supplying you what you need to submit and then the customer must get the approval of the HOA before starting the fence.
